Winter storm closings and cancellations: Town offices, medical services, courthouses, Legislature, state campgrounds, transfer stations
With a messy weather prediction for Friday, cancellations and closings are being made in advance of the storm. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning, with expected total snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches, sleet accumulations of around an inch to an inch and a half, and ice accumulations of around two tenths of an inch, and ending around 7 p.m. tomorrow evening. The National Weather Service forecasts “difficult to impossible” travel conditions impacting commutes.
Maine State Legislative Offices will be closed Friday, February 4 due to the winter storm. Committee meetings will be rescheduled.
All State of Maine offices to close tomorrow, Friday, February 4, “With driving expected to be difficult during this winter storm, I strongly urge all Maine people to stay off the roads if possible to help avoid accidents and to allow our state and municipal road crews to work safely,” said Governor Mills. “Please be safe and remember to check in on your neighbors to see if they need any help.”
ATTENTION CAMPERS: Due to the closure of Maine State Government, opening day for all State Park Campgrounds has been pushed to Monday, February 7, at 9 a.m. This applies to both online and phone reservations.
The Belfast Transfer Station and the Belfast Free Library will be closed on Friday, February 4. The Transfer Station will reopen on Saturday, February 5 at 8 am.. The Belfast Free Library will reopen on Saturday, February h at 9:30 a.m. City of Belfast emergency facilities will remain open as usual.
The Rockport Town Office and Public Library will be closed Feb. 4.
The Knox County Administrative Offices, Knox County Superior Court, and Rockland District Court will all be closed Friday, Feb. 4, due to the weather. They will re-open on Monday February 7, 2022 at 8 a.m.
Due to inclement weather expected to last all day, the St. George Town Office and Transfer Station will be closed today Friday, February 4, 2022. Regular business hours will resume Monday, February 7, 2022 for the Town Office and Tuesday, February 8, 2022 for the Transfer Station.
The Warren Town Office and the Warren Transfer Station is closed Feb. 4
Mid-Coast Solid Waste in Rockport is closed ALL DAY February 4, 2022 due to the winter storm and staffing shortage. The facility will open for normal hours of operation Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
PBMC, WCGH announce adjusted hours for Saturday’s storm
Rockport and Belfast: Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital have made the following adjustments to outpatient services:
- COVID testing centers: testing at both PBMC and WCGH will close at noon.
- Walk-in Care: PBMC Walk-in Care and WCGH Walk-in Care will both close at 2 p.m.
- The retail pharmacy at PBMC will close at 2 p.m.
- All PBMC outpatient practices, will close at 2 p.m. All WCGH outpatient practices will close at noon.
The PBMC and WCGH emergency departments and inpatient units will remain open and able to serve patients for the duration of the storm.
