BELFAST – Walter Elwell passed away January 10th at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Walter was born at Waldo County Hospital in Belfast on January 31, 1950 to Kathleen (Pease) and Howard Charles Elwell.

Walter graduated from Belfast High School and later attended University of Maine at Orono. He was drafted after high school and served in the Army until he was honorably discharged July 1, 1975. He lived in San Diego for eight years, where he perfected auto restoration. When he returned to Maine, he opened a custom auto body restoration shop.
