    BELFAST — The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office reported the following activity Aug. 17 - Sept. 2. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.

    Aug. 17

    James W. Cilley, 45, of Searsmont, was issued a summons for operating without a license on Lincolnville Avenue in Searsmont.

    Aug. 20

    Jonathan Clapp, 23, of Milford, was issued a summons for speeding 72 mph in a 45 mph zone on Route 52 in Lincolnville.

    Deputy Cody Laite responded to the scene of a single-vehicle accident on Waldo Station Road in Waldo where an operator lost control after attempting to avoid another vehicle stopping for a UPS truck parked partially in the road. The driver was traveling northbound behind a tractor-trailer when the two vehicles approached a corner in the road, where there was a UPS truck parked partially on the road and partially off. Due to an oncoming vehicle, the tractor-trailer had to slam on its brakes in order to avoid striking the truck. The driver of the second vehicle attempted to brake and travel around the tractor-trailer to avoid a collision, only to discover the oncoming vehicle. The driver then steered his vehicle off the roadway to the left, traveling across a mowed lawn before striking a wooden fence and going briefly airborne before slamming back down, resulting in front-end damage. Neither the driver nor his passenger suffered injury and their 2005 Chevrolet was towed from the scene. No other vehicles were damaged in the incident.

    Aug. 21

    Dawn M. Lavalley, 54, of Bangor, was issued summonses for violating conditions of release and criminal trespass on Back Belmont Road in Belmont.

    Deputy Cassandra McDonald responded to the scene of an accident on Belfast/Augusta Road in Liberty where an operator making a left turn into a convenience store was struck by another oncoming vehicle. The driver stated they hadn’t seen the vehicle before attempting the turn. The second driver said they attempted to avoid hitting the vehicle but were unable to do so. The turning vehicle, a 1994 Toyota, sustained functional damage and the driver was uninjured. The second vehicle, a 2006 Honda, sustained functional damage and was towed from the scene. The driver was uninjured.

    Aug. 24

    Sarah Chase, 21, of Brooks, was arrested for domestic violence assault, criminal mischief, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person on Moosehead Trail in Brooks.

    Aug. 25

    Harold B. Roy, 89, of Northport, was issued a summons for failure to yield right-of-way on Atlantic Highway in Northport.

    Deputy David Wight responded to the scene of a two-vehicle accident where a driver entering Atlantic Highway from a private driveway failed to yield to oncoming traffic, resulting in a crash. The operator, Harold B. Roy, 89, of Northport, pulled directly into the path of a 2016 Suzuki motorcycle, which was unable to avoid striking Roy’s vehicle. Roy’s vehicle, a 2011 Subaru, sustained functional damage and Roy was uninjured. He was issued a summons for failure to yield. The operator of the motorcycle suffered incapacitating injuries, including broken bones, and was transported for medical treatment. His motorcycle was towed from the scene.

    Aug. 27

    Mark Frost, 39, of Swanville, was arrested for aggravated assault on Swan Lake Avenue in Swanville.

    Aug. 28

    Justin Eames, 37, of Bangor, was issued a summons for leaving the scene of a property damage accident on Main Road in Frankfort, stemming from an incident Aug. 21.
