UPDATE: Camden Police identify deceased man in woods; suspend search in unrelated incident
CAMDEN — The man who died in the woods between Rite Aid Pharmacy and the Knox Mill parking lot has been identified as David Conary, 55, of Camden. Camden Police Sgt. John Tooley said he spoke with his family members tonight.
A friend had discovered David Conary’s body in the stand of trees late this afternoon, June 15.
The cause of death is unknown, said Tooley. A medical examiner will be making that determination.
In an unrelated situation that was also unfolding this afternoon, Camden police have suspended the search for an individual whose family was concerned about his or her wellbeing.
According to Tooley, a family had contacted the police, worried about a Camden adult who had not been on contact with family for some time. Knox County Sheriff Deputy Jeremy Joslyn, with his bloodhound, as well as Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Warden Michelle Merrifield, and her tracking dog, were assisted by another warden in the search, but had no luck in locating the individual by evening.
CAMDEN — Camden Police officers were busy this afternoon, June 15, responding to an unattended death in a narrow stretch of woods between Rite Aid and the Knox Mill parking lot. North East Mobile Health EMTs were nearby, but police were waiting for the State Medical Examiner to be notified — normal protocol with any unattended death.
There is no cause for alarm, said Sgt. John Tooley, and the police were with the body. He said police are now notifying the person’s family.
In another development, Knox County Sheriff’s deputies Monday afternoon are searching parts of Camden, including areas of High Street, for an adult whose well-being was in question today. There was a concern about the individual and people called Camden Police. Knox County deputies are involved because they have a tracking dog, said Camden police.
Tooley said there is no cause for alarm in that case, either. He declined to comment further.
