United Midcoast Charities welcomes new Board member, Christine Engel
Christine Engel has been appointed to the Board of Directors of United Midcoast Charities (UMC).
"Engel brings a rare blend of nonprofit experience, human resources leadership, and community-centered service to UMC," said UMC, in a news release.
Engel began her career in social services, running grant-funded programs including an emergency food pantry and a child abuse prevention program that provided temporary childcare for families in crisis.
After transitioning into Human Resources, she held management and executive roles with well-known companies, including Simmons Beautyrest and LEGO. She also served in key HR positions within several nonprofit organizations, including Director of HR for an agency providing group homes for teens, HR Consultant and Career Services Manager for an employer’s association, and Chief Human Resources Officer for a historic art museum.
“We are delighted to welcome Christine to the board,” said Jim Hengerer, UMC Board Chair. “Her deep experience supporting both people and organizations, combined with her long-standing commitment to community well-being, will be an invaluable asset to UMC and to the nonprofit partners we serve.”
Engel, who lives in Cushing with her husband and their two Maine Coon cats, is also an avid creator of dollhouse miniatures and recently exhibited her work at a local summer arts show. She shared that she is looking forward to contributing her skills and experience to UMC’s mission and the impactful work happening across Midcoast communities.
United Midcoast Charities’ board is made up of dedicated community leaders who guide the organization’s mission to support more than 40 local nonprofit partners in the areas of food, housing, health and safety, and economic security.
United Midcoast Charities plays a pivotal role in providing financial support, strategic guidance, and tangible resources to Midcoast nonprofits providing services in our four focus areas of food, housing, health & safety, and economic security. UMC strengthens these community-focused organizations to achieve their missions more effectively and have a greater impact.
