United Midcoast Charities (UMC) has been designated as a “2019 Top-Rated Nonprofit” by GreatNonprofits, the leading provider of user reviews of charities and nonprofits.
The Top-Rated Nonprofit Award is based on the rating and number of reviews UMC received from volunteers, donors and aid recipients. This is the third consecutive year in which UMC has received this honor and UMC is one of only eight nonprofits in Maine to receive the 2019 accolade, according to a news release.
UMC’s mission is to energize Midcoast Maine nonprofit agencies through finance and guidance, supporting a network of resources stronger than any single organization.
“We are honored to once again be recognized as a Top-Rated Nonprofit,” said UMC Executive Director Megan Williams. “We have more than ever to be proud of! This year culminated a three-year span in which UMC awarded more than $1.5 million in grants in Knox and Waldo counties. We are also providing training opportunities for all local nonprofits through our new Learn With UMC program, and offer open access to a national grants database. “
Individuals who have had experience with UMC’s programs gave the organization positive reviews through the GreatNonprofits website:
“We can do so much more because of UMC's support! So glad to benefit from their educational trainings as well, a great new service for local nonprofits.”
“The staff at UMC here in Camden are wonderful professionals and actually give personal thought to how you might best make use of the resources available through them.”
“UMC has totally dedicated itself to connecting with effective non-profits across our region and supporting them in multiple meaningful ways. This is the way to be effective in improving our communities.”
“United Midcoast Charities is a great example of a nonprofit making a real difference in their community,” said Perla Ni, CEO of GreatNonprofits, “Their award is well-deserved recognition not only of their work, but of the tremendous support they receive, as shown by the many outstanding reviews they have received from people who have direct experience working with UMC.”
GreatNonprofits is the leading website where people share stories about their personal experiences with more than 1.6 million charities and nonprofits. The GreatNonprofits Top-Rated Awards are the only awards for nonprofits determined by those who have direct experience with the charities – as donors, volunteers and recipients of aid.
