Two charged with burglary and assault after confrontation
BELFAST — Two men are facing charges of burglary and assault after traveling to the Belfast home of an ex-girlfriend Sunday, June 1.
Mitchell Dicenzon, 25, of Bath, and Jason Durgin, 27, of Baileyville, allegedly went to the residence to confront the current boyfriend of the woman, according to Chief Michael McFadden, of the Belfast Police Department.
The 24 year-old victim, who lives at the residence with his girlfriend, reported that at approximately 9:30 p.m. a knock came at the door. When he opened the door, Durgin and Dicenzo were on the other side.
The two men allegedly tried to "entice the victim into a fight outside the residence," said McFadden.
The victim refused, instead telling the men to leave and went back inside the residence. Durgin and Dicenzo allegedly forced their way into the home and began assaulting the man, police said.
McFadden said it was only after someone else in the residence told Durgin and Dicenzo that the police had been called and were en route that the two men fled.
A BOLO (be on the lookout) was issued for Durgin, Vincenzo and the vehicle in which they were traveling. Roughly 90 minutes later, Deputy Brian Carleton of the Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Department, called Belfast police to say he had both subjects [pulled over] on the side of the road.
They were both arrested and transported to Two Bridges County Jail where they remained as of Monday afternoon, June 2.
