CAMDEN — An intersection on outer Mechanic Street in Camden was the site of a two-vehicle crash Aug. 3, with both drivers up and walking, despite one upended Jeep.

The crash occurred just before noon, at the intersection of Melvin Heights Road and Mechanic Street. The driver of the Saab was attempting to turn left onto Mechanic Street and failed to see the Jeep, which was heading west on Mechanic Street.

The force of the collision sent the Jeep onto its side.

Both drivers were evaluated by an ambulance crew with North East Mobile Health Services and did not require transport to the hospital.

Traffic was rerouted onto Melvin Heights Road while Mechanic Street, which turns into Hosmer Pond Road at that intersection, remained closed for approximately 40 minutes.

Camden firefighters quickly cleaned up debris from the crash and reopened the road by 12:45 p.m., while assisting Camden Exxon remove the two vehicles from the scene. Camden police continued to investigate the crash.
