Trespassing Cushing pair arrested for aggravated assault after refusing landowner’s request to leave
WARREN — A Cushing man and woman are in Knox County Jail today after they allegedly beat a man so severely with a bat that he was rendered unconscious and not breathing when deputies arrived on scene.
Dalton Cross, 21, and Amber St. Pierre, 19, both were arrested and charged with domestic violence aggravated assault and criminal mischief Nov. 9. St. Pierre was also charged with aggravated assault.
According to Knox County Sheriff Donna Dennison, Cross and St. Pierre were in Thomaston Saturday, and warned not to hunt on some private land in Warren. But the pair did just that on Sunday, according to Dennison, and when confronted and told to leave, they not only refused but proceeded to beat the unidentified victim with a bat.
The victim was struck in the head and torso with the weapon, and also kicked while on the ground by both suspects, according to Dennison.
Deputies John Hansen and Paul Pinkham, and Detective Dwight Burtis responded to the scene and found the victim unconscious and not breathing. Hansen performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and was able to revive the victim, who was then transported by Warren Ambulance to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.
Information on the victim's condition has not yet been made available.
Cross and St. Pierre both remain in jail Monday, and are scheduled to make an initial court appearance this afternoon in Rockland District Court.
