Three nonprofits receive Knox County Fund grants

KNOX COUNTY — The Knox County Committee of the Maine Community Foundation’s Community Building Grant Program has awarded $47,888 in grants to 11 nonprofits.  

Grant recipients in Knox County include:

Community Investors of Knox County, to support the Community Investors of Knox County Hope Fund to help cultivate hope through immediate financial support

Herring Gut Learning Center, to expand Girls in Science Days to serve boys, inspiring local youth to work to overcome barriers and pursue STEAM field training and employment

Watts Hall Community Players, to install a cooling/heating system to increase community involvement in live theater and ensure community use of the hall.

The Knox County Fund is a permanent endowment that supports projects and nonprofits that strengthen communities in the county. Applications go through MaineCF’s Community Building Grant Program and are reviewed by a committee of local leaders. The next proposal deadline is February 15, 2020. Application, guidelines and a list of recent grants can be found at www.mainecf.org.
