AUGUSTA - Three Maine Department of Corrections Corporal K9 Handlers and their K9 team members graduated, on June 13, the 14-week Patrol Canine (K-9) Team Certification/Recertification course at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Vassalboro.
Patrol Canine Team Certification/Recertification is intensive training, as a team, in obedience, agility, tracking, Officer protection, building search, article search, criminal apprehension, and other related areas.
The MDOC graduates and their K9 team members are Corrections Corporal K9 Handlers Robert Bowen and Kane (Maine State Prison); Richard Greene and TJ (Maine State Prison), and Troy Hood and Gunner (Mountain View Youth Development Center).
