Thomaston opens second round of Small Business Micro-Grants
The Town of Thomaston’s Community & Economic Development Committee is opening of the second round of its Small Business Micro-Grant Program, a unique opportunity for local businesses to enhance their spaces and contribute to the town’s overall appeal and accessibility.
Applications are now open, with up to $15,000 in total funding available and a maximum award of $3,000 per grant.
The application deadline is December 2, 2024, at 5 p.m.
The Small Business Micro-Grant Program is designed to support Thomaston-based businesses with physical, customer-facing locations.
This year’s grant priorities focus on two key areas:
- Exterior Improvements: Enhancements to business exteriors along the Route 1 corridor to boost the town’s visual appeal and attract customers.
- Accessibility Improvements: Physical upgrades to any customer-facing, brick-and-mortar business in Thomaston that will improve access for handicapped patrons, creating a more inclusive experience for all visitors.
In addition to the grant funds, applicants are required to contribute a match of 10% of their total project budget, ensuring a collaborative effort toward achieving their business goals. Eligible projects could include exterior beautification initiatives, structural adjustments for accessibility, and other impactful improvements.
“This program is an excellent opportunity for small businesses in Thomaston to make enhancements that attract customers and support our town’s economic vitality,” said Kendray Rodriguez, Community & Economic Development Coordinator, in a news release. “We’re excited to support our business community through this grant program and look forward to seeing the positive changes it will bring.”
