Strangers in white van approach Owls Head girl, offer ride, according to police
OWLS HEAD — On Monday, September 18 at approximately 3:00 p.m. a small white van approached a young girl on Ash Point Drive in Owls Head near Woodman Trailer Park. Upon catching up with her, one of the three occupants of the vehicle asked if she wanted a ride, according to a news statement issued by Knox County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy, Tim Carroll.
The statement went on to say that the young girl didn't recognize any of the three males in the vehicle and refused their offer of a ride, saying “no.” According to the KCSO statement, the men in the van told the girl that "it would be quicker [to get a ride]."
The girl reportedly ran into the bushes until the van drove away, at which point she proceeded to her nearby residence.
Carroll wrote that the girl stated that the van had a "donut" tire on the passenger side, and that the driver had black hair and a beard. She described one of the other passengers as having blond hair and no facial hair. She told the police that she thought the men were between 30 and 40 years old. The van continued south on Ash Point Drive following the encounter.
