Strand Theatre calls for original sea stories
ROCKLAND — People of all ages are invited to submit an original sea story for the Strand Theatre’s Sea Story Slam, taking place on Friday, August 11, at 6 p.m., as part of the Strand’s “Sea Story Sea-lebration!” Stories will be read on stage at the event.
Stories can be true or fantasy adventures. Tales about the time you were shipwrecked, attacked by a giant sea-monster, or went fishing with your grandpa are all welcomed.
“Anything goes as long as it’s about the ocean!” said the Strand, in a news release.
Stories should be submitted in advance and be about 800 words or less. Stories longer than 800 words may be submitted, however a five-minute passage will be selected for presentation. Authors may read their own work, or have it read by local actors such as cast members of Strand on the Air. Submit stories or send questions to yourstory@rocklandstrand.com no later than August 5.
Admission to the Sea Story Slam will be free. For more information, visit www.rocklandstrand.com or call (207) 594-0070. The Strand Theatre is located at 345 Main St., Rockland.
