Sheriff’s Office investigates four burned mailboxes in Monroe and Waldo

Incidents took place overnight Nov. 18

    MONROE — The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating several mailboxes that were burned in Waldo County Nov. 18. 

    Law enforcement was contacted the following morning when the complainant discovered his mailbox had been damaged overnight. The contents of the mailbox were also burned.  

    Deputy Merl Reed responded to the scene on Back Brooks Road in Monroe. While en route Reed discovered an additional damaged mailbox on the same road. 

    A second complaint was received later the same day, this time of a burned mailbox on the Ed Nickerson Road that had been destroyed the same night. The contents of that mailbox were also burned. 

    While investigating the second complaint, Deputy Porter found another burned mailbox on Deer Run Drive in Waldo. 

    Each of these incidents remain under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office at 338-2040.
