Scott N. Cilley, obituary

BELFAST — Scott N. Cilley, 55, of Belfast passed away on October 31, 2017 at the Sussman House in Rockport. He was born on August 24, 1962 in Belfast, the son of Richard and Annie (Morse) Cilley. After graduating High School Scott joined the United States Navy and served for 9 years and 11 months before being honorably discharged. In 1991 he became a prison guard for Thomaston State Prison and then moved on to truck driving. Scott was a member of the American Legion and VFW Post 3108 in Belfast where he also volunteered. Scott suffered his first major heart attack at age 38 followed by retirement because of his heart issues. On September 30th of this year, he suffered his final heart attack which weakened his heart and was followed by a stroke one week later. He fought a very tough battle but somehow through it all kept his sense of humor.

He is predeceased by a brother, Samuel Cilley. Scott is survived by his parents; four children, Moriah Cilley of Belfast, Manda Cilley of Jackson, Elizabeth Gotham of Florida and Jacob Cilley of Jackson; his siblings Dick Cilley and wife Karen of Islesboro and James Cilley and wife Angela of Searsmont; his grandchildren, Kassydi, Gage, Olivia and Alexis; nieces, nephews and cousins, Matthew, Nora, Heather, Charles, Zach, J.T., Eli, and Issac and his extended family at the VFW and American Legion.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 11th at Grove Cemetery, Belfast.
