Rockport readies to hire a new town manager
ROCKPORT — One month after current Town Manager William Post made public that he would be leaving his position to become a county administrator, the Rockport Select Board is ready to sign a contract with a new hire. No public hint of a name, however, has been mentioned.
The board will convene at 7 a.m., May 20, via Zoom to first discuss in executive session, and then act in open session, a contract with a town manager. The board will also act on the appointment of an interim town manager.
After Post resigned in April, the Select Board reconvened the Town Manager Search Committee that had formed two years ago after former Town Manager Rick Bates retired.
The Search Committee, “went through the process as required by the Town Charter, chose semi-finalists to whom questionnaires were sent, and selected a finalist they referred to the Select Board,” said Board Chair Debra Hall. The Select Board in executive session conducted the interview (with the inclusion of the search committee) of the finalist. We are currently in negotiations with the candidate and hope to have a contract ready for the Select Board approval on Thursday.”
There were 11 candidates during this search.
