Rockport Harbor Committee recommends working waterfront designation on harbor frontage

    ROCKPORT — The Rockport Harbor Committee voted at its Dec. 5 meeting to recommend to the town’s select board that the area on the northeast side of Rockport Harbor, near the outlet of the Goose River, be designated for marine commercial and recreational use.

    The meeting took place in the Richardson Room at the Rockport Town Office. 

    The resolve, as recorded by committee Chairman Sam Temple that, “the area described thus (below) be designated for marine commercial and recreational use of the harbor and further recommends that the Comprehensive Plan consider this space essential for Rockport’s marine commercial and recreational waterfront.

    The topic evolved from recent municipal conversations about parking concerns in Rockport Village, and the anticipated comprehensive plan update for the town.
