Rockport begins sewer work Saturday night, April 8; six-week project on Route 1

    Crews will begin digging up a short portion of Route 1 in Rockport near the intersection of Route 90, as the town extends its municipal sewer system to the vicinity of Tropical Nails.

    The work is to begin April 8, at 6 p.m. 

    Contractor Jake Barbour, Inc. will be working through Saturday night until 8 a.m., Sunday morning.

    During this period a manhole will be installed at the intersection of routes 90 and 1.

    Work on installing the sewer main will begin Monday, April 10, with the working hours between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.

    The scheduled will continue Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.

    JBI will maintain two lanes of traffic through both Monday and Tuesday nights and for the remainder of the project.

    The remainder of the work will be completed during daylight hours, including any necessary blasting or hammering and could run over a period of approximately six weeks.
