Rockland’s Union Street reopens after vehicle, pedestrian accident

    ROCKLAND — A pedestrian in Rockland was transported to the hospital with minor injuries after being struck by a car on Union Street, Thursday morning.

    At approximately 10:03 a.m., Sept. 19, Rockland Fire, EMS, and Police departments were called to the intersection of Granite and Union Streets to tend to the incident.

    Pedestrian James Beaudry, 66, of Rockland, had been walking northbound on Union Street while the driver of a 2004 Blue Ford F150, Tyler Philbrook, 31, of Thomaston, was stopped at a stop sign on Granite Street with the truck facing in a westerly direction (toward Broadway). 

    According to police, Philbrook was watching the southbound traffic on Union Street.

    As Beaudry walked in front of Philbrook’s vehicle, “Philbrook observed an opening in traffic and began to proceed, hitting Beaudry and knocking him to the ground,” according to police.

    Beaudry was transported by Rockland Fire/EMS for a small laceration to his head.  

    The crash is being investigated by Officer John Bagley, though police state that no charges are anticipated at this time.
