Rockland Police Department hires new patrol officer
ROCKLAND — The Rockland Police Department has hired Jacob Labo as a patrol officer, according to a Dec. 14 press release from Sgt. Don Finnegan.
Labo, who joined the department last month, comes from a military family and was born in Bath while his father was stationed at the Brunswick Naval Air Station. Growing up at different military bases around the country, Labo graduated from high school in Massachusetts, and enlisted in the National Guard. During his time in the National Guard, he was deployed to the southwest United States/Mexico border, assisting Border Patrol, and in combat operations in Afghanistan.
He was awarded the Army good conduct medal and combat infantry badge.
Following his honorable discharge after eight years in the National Guard, Labo completed the Maine Criminal Justice Academy law enforcement pre-service training, and was employed as a summer reserve officer with the York Police Department.
In his off time, Labo enjoys spending time with his wife and their daughter, working on cars and camping.
