ROCKLAND — Rockland FrostFest is in the works for Saturday, Feb. 15, from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., at Harbor Park.

Launched by 10-year-old nonprofit Rockland Main Street, Inc., the first-annual festival is designed as a family-friendly but is definitely for-all-ages outdoor event, according to Main Street, in a news release.

The free festival is open to the public. Community partners now sought to plan, sponsor, participate, and more.

“Now we are looking to line up participating businesses, nonprofit organizations, school groups, and individuals to volunteer to help with programming and logistics,” said event organizer Sierra Dietz, in the release. “Our city’s reputation for festivals is stellar, and we are excited to add a new one to the roster, and show how the Midcoast does winter fun, Rockland style.”

Intended to be a "cabin fever" breaker of sorts, the event’s program will feature fun and creative weather-conducive games, contests, creative activities, treats, animals, classic pastimes (hockey, snow sculpture, ice skating, bonfires, etc), and more.

Community members interested in joining the project are welcome to indicate their interest. Fresh and appropriate ideas are welcome, as well as inquiries about an existing "wish list" of event program concepts.

The planning committee is meeting regularly, and actively looking for additional volunteers, sponsors of the event, and groups.

The growing list of participants includes Rockland’s Flanagan Center, Rockland Public Library, Rockland Lobster Festival, Coast Guard, Sidecountry Sports, Rotary, Salvation Army, and the Coastal Children's Museum.
