SPRUCE HEAD — The Craignair Gallery invites the public to the Opening Reception of Color of the Seasons by Rockland artist Gwen Sylvester on Wednesday, Nov. 8, from 4 to 7 p.m. Live entertainment by pianist Carlie Cooney and complementary refreshments enhance this special event.

Sylvester’s work is based on seeing and responding to the power of nature and the quiet beauty in the world. Her artistic process is an exploration in color, pattern and texture; a lively struggle between subject, method and materials. She often paints in acrylic or water media with unconventional tools to produce a rich variety of surfaces. In one painting the artist might vary bold, impressionist handling of paint with delicate, thin or atmospheric layers of glazes producing energetic, vibrant results, when and as they appear. 

Color of the Seasons is on exhibit from November 8 through December 5.
