ROCKLAND – Raymond E. Withee, 76, went to be with God, his wife Georgene, parents Elmer and Genevieve and others he loved, December 22, 2017 at Country Manor in Copers Mills.

Ray graduated from Rockland High school in 1960. He retired from the Maine Water Company after more than 30 years of service. Ray also worked as a part time police officer with the City of Rockland, an achievement of which he was very proud.

He was a life-member of the Rockland Lodge of Elks.

He enjoyed putting on his dancing shoes. Back in the day Ray could often be seen at the Ye Old Coffee Shop, sharing in the comradery and chatter of the locals. Later in life he enjoyed coffee time with friends at Willow Street Bakery.

An avid sports fan he loved the Red Sox and New York Giants. He enjoyed harassing anyone who was a "damn Pats" fan.

Ray was often seen out on his "daily drive with his wife", checking on those he loved. Ray was a man of few words yet his love was present to all those that knew him.

His family sends special thanks to the girls at Five County Credit Union, who made his days. Also to his buddy "Jake" for checking in and being a buddy.

Ray is survived by four children Kara Mallicoate , Theresa Withee, Duane Withee, Holly Bachellor; nine grandchildren; his sister Betty Daggett and her husband Bill; as well as nieces and nephews great and otherwise.

A graveside service will be announced in the spring.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. To share a memory or story with Ray's family, please visit their online Book of Memories at www.bchfh.com.
