CHINA — Maine State Police troopers were in for a surprise Jan. 27 when Troopers Thomas Bureau, Seth Allen, Evan Teel and James Leonard responded to a report of possible domestic violence.

The caller told dispatchers she heard screaming from a residence on Hanson Road in China. A short time later troopers arrived at the scene, but further investigation revealed the screams weren’t a result of violence, in fact, they weren’t even human.

The owner of the home told troopers she raises pigs, and the screaming was coming from her male pig because he’d been put into a pen with five female pigs, which were all in heat.

    No charges were filed.
