Philip A. Reed, Jr., 89, died January 4, 2018 at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta.  He was born November 20, 1928 in Friendship to Philip A. Reed, Sr. and Mildred Simmons Reed.  Philip graduated from Waldoboro High School.

He worked as a lobsterman both on Crie Haven (Ragged Island) and Friendship until he retired. He enjoyed going to his house in Florida with his wife, Evelyn, and traveling. 

Mr. Reed was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Genthner Reed; two brothers, Wendell Reed and Wilbur Reed; a daughter, Valerie Reed Simmons, and her son, Shane, and by a son, Drew Reed.

He is survived by a brother Robert Reed and five sons, Mark Reed and his wife, Cynthia, Wade Reed and his friend, Sherrie, Daniel Reed, Dwayne Reed, and Shawn Reed.

A graveside service to celebrate Philip’s life will be held at the Brookside Cemetery in Friendship to be announced.
