Peter Wolcott Greenman, obituary

Mon, 04/30/2018 - 2:45pm
Peter Wolcott Greenman, 67, passed away peacefully, and suddenly in his new home at the Midcoast Mental Health Center, Belfast, Maine, Saturday, April 21, 2018. When he was 4-four-years old, Peter was adopted from a German orphanage by Almon and Pamela Greenman who then lived in Belgium with their three other children. The family moved to Canada and Minnesota where Peter earned a culinary arts degree from Minneapolis Community and Technical College.

For several years he worked as a chef at restaurants in the Midwest, and had a successful run as chef at the Camden Harbor Inn. He ran a landscaping business in order to employ needy teenagers and helped others in need over the years. His later years, living in Union, Maine, were a time of struggle, which resulted in many emergency hospital visits, but he was looking forward to a better life after the kind care of the PARC Unit at Pen Bay Medical Center.

Peter is survived by his sister, Beedy Parker, of Camden, Maine, brother Michael of Columbus, Ohio, brother John of Orland, Maine, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Al and Pam Greenman and his good friend and companion Priscilla Emery. A family gathering of remembrance will be organized for sometime this summer.

In honor of Peter’s love of animals, please consider a memorial gift to P.A.W.S. Animal Adoption Center, Camden, Maine, 207-236-8702.  Memories and condolences may be offered to the family at www.ripostafh.com.
