Patricia ‘Patsy’ Holbrook, obituary
HOPE — Patricia ‘Patsy’ Holbrook, 85, passed away June 2, 2024 after months of declining health. Born Patricia M. Dugan on January 25, 1939 in Lincoln, Maine, she moved to Rockland at a young age where she attended local schools.
In 1957 Patsy met the love of her life, Donald E. Holbrook Sr., at the local roller rink. The couple married on June 22, 1957 and in 1961 they purchased the family home in Hope where they raised their 4 children.
In addition to caring for her children and home, Patsy worked at the Seacoast Egg Farm, Knox Woolen Mill, and subsequently retired from Best Felts in 2001. After retirement, Patsy and Donald enjoyed going up to their camp, four wheeling, snowmobiling and going on hunting trips with family and friends.
Patsy also enjoyed puzzles, crosswords, and knitting slippers for just about everyone. But her favorite pastime of all was when she was in the company of her large family, whether it be a family gathering or a one-on-one visit with a grandchild. Patsy also loved spending time with her ‘grand-dog’, Gertie, who often accompanied her on outings.
Predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Donald, and their black lab Sadie; brothers, Ernie, Steven and George; and her sisters Edna, Frida, Pauly and Lone; Patsy is survived by her children, Scott Holbrook and his wife Patricia of Warren, Joan Stinson and her husband Ed of Lincolnville, John Holbrook of Hope, Donald Holbrook Jr. and his wife Susan of Hope; her grandchildren, Jason and Matthew, Erick, Travis, Nicole and Adam, Chad, Ryan, Donald III, Nicholas, Chelsea, Georgianna, Andrew and Austin; as well as many great-grandchildren; siblings Judy, Cheryl, John, and Henry.
Patsy also leaves behind many close friends, in-laws, extended family, and loved ones.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 11 a.m., at Hope Grove Extension Cemetery, Rt. 235, Hatchet Mountain Road in Hope.
