Online Merryspring talk offers guidance for residential, woodlot owners in implementing conservation practices
Rebecca Jacobs will lead an online presentation called Conservation Landscape Certification (CLC), hosted by Merryspring Nature Center, on Tuesday, March 19, at 12 p.m.
Jacobs, program manager at Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD, will describe this CLC program that offers guidance for residential and woodlot owners in implementing conservation practices in a systematic way. The CLC program helps you measure your progress through five core criteria: providing wildlife habitat, practicing soil & water conservation, control invasive species, plan and plant for ecosystem support, and implement organic and integrated pest management practices. Checklists and supporting educational resources are available on our website: https://www.knox-lincoln.org/conservation-landscape-certification.
“We hear from participants that they enjoy sharing their experiences with neighbors, friends, and family,” said SWCD, in a news release. “Join us for this hour-long free event to learn how this program can help you increase the conservation value of your property!”
Completion of the certification includes:
-A certificate and document that could support conservation projects with NRCS or state agencies.
-A sign indicating your property is certified, which is a great way to start conversations with others about your efforts.
-Recognition as a Certified Conservationist in our annual journals and at our annual meetings (each district respectively).
“It’s likely your own immediate reward will be the chance to watch birds and wildlife inhabiting your land, feeding, and raising young, and seeing beautiful changes in the landscape,” said the release.
