Nickerson Professional Association to merge with MTA Accounting

Next month ushers in a new era for two local public accounting firms. In 1954, Raymond Nickerson started what is now Nickerson Professional Association. Son, Michael Nickerson, came on board in 1983 and took over ownership in 1987. Madeline Tomlin started what is now MTA Accounting in 1977. Daughter, Kali Tomlin McCarthy, joined that firm in 2010 and assumed ownership in 2015.

On October 1, the office of Nickerson Professional Association will merge with that of MTA Accounting. Both Mike and Kali are excited to make this transition, according to a news release.

"Combining these two firms under the banner of MTA Accounting will more than double the staff and resources available to offer services to individuals and businesses in the Midcoast region,” said Mike.

"I’m excited to watch what Kali can do with the combined firms," says Nickerson. "She and I share similar backgrounds and business philosophies. After almost 40 years in public accounting, I’m ready to ‘pass the baton’ and enjoy retirement."

McCarthy says, “Supporting local businesses and our community as a trusted advisor and seeing success and growth is what makes this all so rewarding. Mike has built a solid foundation providing these services and I welcome the opportunity to continue his role in the future.”

Both the High Street and Lincolnville Avenue offices will remain in operation and fully staffed.
