ROCKLAND — New Hope for Women, offering support to people in Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc, and Waldo counties affected by domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking, has hired Joan LeMole as its development director.

In her position, LeMole will cultivate relationships within the community, establish and oversee all fundraising activities, participate in grant research and writing, and collaborate with the leadership team to ensure the agency’s mission is furthered.

Prior to joining New Hope for Women, LeMole spent nineteen years as a mental health clinician and five years as a nonprofit executive director.

"Given my background, I'm excited to have the opportunity to work alongside such a dedicated team as we strive to create a future where domestic violence no longer exists," said LeMole, in a news release.

“We are so fortunate to have someone of Joan’s caliber join our organization,” said New Hope for Women Executive Director Rebekah Paredes. “From the moment she arrived, Joan jumped in with energy and inspiration and has already made a great impact upon the agency.”

LeMole holds a BA in Spanish and German, an MA in French, and an MEd in counselor education. She’s a member of the West Bay Rotary Club and serves on the board of the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce. LeMole lives in Rockland with her husband and two sons. 

Established in 1981, New Hope for Women serves Waldo, Knox, Lincoln, and Sagadahoc counties, 73 cities and towns, and six islands with year-round populations. It also provides important educational resources to assist our communities in creating a safer and healthier future.

In 2018, the agency provided 4,660 hours of direct service to 1,475 individuals, including 899 hours of legal/court services. It also furnished 62 safe home nights, 6,061 direct service volunteer hours, and 2,534 hours of community and youth education to 7,932 individuals.
