ROCKPORT — This fall, the Midcoast Recreation Center is excited to announce it will begin offering massage therapy to the community.

Over the past summer, the MRC has been working hard to renovate a room to be dedicated solely for the use of the massage therapists and their clients, according to a press release. This room, located upstairs next to the dance studios, has been outfitted to create a comfortable, safe, and relaxing atmosphere for everyone, and the MRC is now ready to begin scheduling appointments, per the release.

The MRC, in addition to beginning their new massage program, is also happy to welcome their two wonderful new massage therapists, Mandy Baker and Heidi Hoeckel.

Mandy, who has a great love of traveling and being outdoors, graduated from the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy in 2015, and says she enjoys working with clients to help them live with less pain and develop a greater range of motion. Mandy will be offering Swedish, deep tissue, and trigger point massage.

Heidi has been providing massage therapy at local inns in the Camden area since she graduated in the holistic massage therapy program from the Spa Tech Institute in 2014, and just recently finished her studies to become a Reiki Master. Heidi says that since she has graduated she has taken continuing education classes and even enjoys watching webinars to further her learning. Heidi will also be offering Swedish/relaxation and deep tissue massage, as well pregnancy and oncology massage; in addition, she will also offer polarity massage and Reiki that she can combine with other forms of massage.

Beginning in October, the massage therapy program will start at $30 for a half hour session, or $50 for a full hour session.
