THOMASTON — Another day of District 2 Babe Ruth playoff baseball was played Saturday, July 8 at Thomaston’s Oceanside baseball field. 

In the morning, the Midcoast 14s fell to Augusta in the local’s first game of the tournament 8-0 before rebounding with a 9-4 victory over Apple Valley. The Midcoast 14s will once again face Augusta in the district championship Sunday, July 9 at 9 a.m. If Midcoast wins, a winner-take-all championship game will be played at 11:30 a.m. 

In the afternoon, the Midcoast 15s lost to Augusta 10-8 and were thus eliminated from the tournament. The team previously defeated Augusta 4-1 Friday morning. Augusta, which also defeated Coastal West on Saturday, will challenge Apple Valley in the district championship Sunday afternoon. 

14s: Augusta 8, Midcoast 0 

Augusta plated three runs in the first, one in the third, two in the fourth and one in each the fifth and seventh innings. 

Top hitters for the Midcoast were True Crane (single), Joey Curtis (single) and Ethan Reed (single). 

Repeat hitters for Augusta were Nick Barber (single, double, two RBI, run), Riley Guyer (two singles, two runs) and Guy Ahern (two singles, run, RBI). 

On the mound for Midcoast were Curtis (three innings, four runs, four hits, six walks, one strikeout, one hit-by-pitch), Tim Farrelly (1.1 innings, three runs, five hits, one strikeout), Aiden Schecter (1.2 innings, one hit, one walk, one strikeout) and Reed (one inning, two walks). 

On the mound for Augusta were Kevin Douin (two innings, one hit, three walks, two strikeouts), Bobby Stolt (one walk, four strikeouts), Guyer (two innings, one hit, four strikeouts) and Akeerah Warren (one inning, one hit, one walk). 

14s: Midcoast 9, Apple Valley 4

Midcoast plated four runs in the second, three in fourth and one in each the sixth and seventh innings. Apple Valley scored two in the second and one in each the fifth and seventh innings.

Repeat hitters for Apple Valley were Gavin Perkins (two singles, Henry Nuce (single, double, run, RBI) and Hunter Cannery (two singles, run, RBI).

Top hitters for Midcoast included Crane (single, double, run, three RBI) and Dylan Abbott (double, three runs).  

On the mound for Apple Valley were Ryan Baird (3.2 innings, seven runs, three hits, seven walks, six strikeouts) and Owen Foster (3.1 innings, two runs, four hits, one walk, three strikeouts). 

On the mound for Midcoast were Adam Sirois (five innings, three runs, five hits, three walks, six strikeouts) and Crane (two innings, one run, three walks, two strikeouts). 

15s: Augusta 10, Midcoast 8

Augusta plated two runs in the first, six in the fourth and one in each the fifth and seventh innings. Midcoast plated a run in the first, four in the second, one in the third and two in the fifth. 

Repeat hitters for Midcoast were Luke Hamlin (single, double, three runs, three RBI), Dakota Payson (two singles) and Ben Ripley (single, double, two runs). 

Repeat hitters for Augusta were Josh Nadeau (two singles, two runs, RBI) and Dom Denico (two singles, run, four RBI).
