March 2025 exhibit at Camden Public Library:'Winter into Spring' by Kelly Desrosiers
CAMDEN — The Camden Public Library welcomes artist Kelly Desrosiers for her fine art exhibit of collage-based paintings titled "Patterns" in the Picker Room Gallery during the month of March*. The public will be invited to a "Meet the Artist" teatime later in the month.
The public is invited to a “Meet the Artist” teatime, Friday, March 28, at 3 p.m., in the Picker Room. This is the last chance to view the exhibit, chat with the artist Kelly Desrosiers, and enjoy light refreshments.
Desrosiers creates her acrylic, collage-based paintings on cradled wood panels with printed tissue papers that she makes herself with original stencils and stamps. Multiple layers of transparent collage are combined with acrylic applied by brush, in glazes, or with a liner pen. Layers are sanded periodically to 'antique' and integrate the layered patterns.
“I view the overlapping of patterns as a proxy for the web of relationships in the natural world, both visible and invisible, and from micro to macro," says Desrosiers. "The time-consuming finished works have strong compositions based on Maine landscapes, seascapes, flora and fauna, but also have layered depth, hidden visual surprises, and a unique textured surface."
More of Kelly Desrosier's work can be found at www.pointedfirsart.com.
*The Picker Room hosts meetings and library events and is not always open for viewing. Please call ahead or check the CPL website calendar to see what’s happening daily.
