Maine State Police Troop D beat

    BELFAST — The Maine State Police reported the following activity Aug. 18-26. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.

    Aug. 18

    Trooper Shawn Porter responded to a report of a naked man on the public boat launch in Freedom. After locating the man, it was determined he was drinking. He was asked to put on his clothes and called for a ride home.

    Aug. 19

    Trooper James Leonard arrested Amanda Bisson, 19, on a warrant.

    Trooper Seth Allen responded to Hardscrabble Road in Litchfield for a report of theft of methadone. The investigation is ongoing.

    Aug. 20

    Trooper Benjamin Sweeney stopped Markus Lowe, 20, of Brooks on Route 7 in Brooks for a seat belt violation. During the stop drug paraphernalia was found in the vehicle. Both Lowe and his passenger, Matthew Cowette, 28, of Unity were summonsed for sale and use of drug paraphernalia.

    Trooper Niles Krech arrested a Randolph man, Lance Hustus, 25, on a warrant and also summonsed him for violating conditions of release.

    Trooper Thomas Bureau responded to a vehicle rollover on Mount Road in Burnham.

    Trooper Erin Ball responded to a single-vehicle accident in which the driver collided with a deer on Huntington Hill Road in Litchfield. No injuries were reported.

    Aug. 21

    Trooper Ball stopped a vehicle on I-295 for speeding. Upon further investigation it was revealed the operator, Amanda Howard, 25, had a suspended license and she was summonsed for speeding and operating after suspension. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

    Trooper James MacDonald stopped Evan St. Jean, 22, behind China Middle School for suspicious activity. St. Jean was arrested for operating under the influence, operating after suspension and violating conditions of release.

    Trooper Porter and K9 partner Myka performed two demonstrations at the Union Fairgrounds.

    Trooper Bureau responded to a single-vehicle accident on Route 7 in Jackson. There were no injuries.

    Troopers Kyle Pelletier and Christopher Rogers responded to the report of a domestic incident on Bowman Street in Farmingdale. Following an investigation, Christopher Murphy, 23, was arrested for domestic violence assault.

    Aug. 22

    Trooper Pelletier stopped a vehicle on I-295 in Richmond for speeding. Upon further investigation it was discovered the operator, Hayden Ratner, 25, was operating with a suspended license and had an outstanding warrant. He was arrested and taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail.

    Trooper Pelletier stopped John Ketner, 25, on High Street in West Gardiner for a vehicle light defect. Upon further investigation it was discovered Ketner’s license is suspended. He was summonsed for operating after suspension.

    Troopers Donald Webber and Elisha Fowlie arrested Joseph Gagnon, 56, of Vassalboro, at a residence on Abbott Road in Albion. Gagnon’s girlfriend, Jaimee Laney, 35, also of Vassalboro, was arrested for possession of heroin. Gladys Alvarez, of New York City, was also arrested after it was discovered she was in possession of 10 bags of crack cocaine.

    Trooper Ball responded to a complaint of a counterfeit $50 bill used at J&S Oil in Farmingdale. Trooper Ball was able to contact the suspect who paid what was owed. The investigation continues.

    Trooper Ball responded to Roberta Road in Farmingdale for the report of a minor two-vehicle accident. Vehicle damage was minimal and no injuries were reported.

    Trooper Porter and his K9 partner helped the Warden Service complete a cadaver search for a lost hiker on Saddleback Mountain. No remains were found.

    Aug. 23

    Trooper Porter helped the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office respond to a suspicious incident in Liberty, where a male was heard yelling outside at 11:30 p.m. Further investigation revealed a Subaru had rolled into a ravine, and it was determined Harry Shade was the operator and he was summonsed for operating under the influence.

    Trooper Porter was responding to North Maine Street in Winterport for a K9 track when he located a missing, suicidal female. The female ran, stopping on a small bridge and climbing onto the railing but Porter was able to grab her and pull her off the railing without any injuries.

    Trooper Robert Cejka stopped a vehicle for speeding on I-295 in in Gardiner. Further investigation lead to the driver, Edward J. Crowley II, 36, be summonsed for possession of a useable amount of marijuana.

    Trooper Ferreira stopped a vehicle on Route 9 in Bowdoinham for speeding. The operator was summonsed for operating after suspension and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

    Aug. 24

    Trooper Ferreira was conducting a traffic stop on Maine Avenue in Farmingdale when a vehicle traveling in the same direction hit his cruiser. The vehicle continued traveling until it was eventally stopped by the trooper. The operator, Geoffrey Dow, 53, was found to have signs of impairment and was arrested for operating under the influence.

    Aug. 25

    Trooper Allen assisted the Monmouth Police Department with their attempt to apprehend a subject for domestic violence terrorizing and obstructing the report of a crime. They were unable to locate the suspect and the investigation is ongoing.

    Trooper Sweeney responded to a single vehicle crash on Underpass Road in Brooks. The operator, Howard Whitcomb, 29, of Brooks, was determined to be under the influence and in possession of illegal drugs. He was arrested for felony operating under the influence and possession of a schedule W drug.
