Maine State Police Troop D beat: Fake inspection stickers, suspended registration, OUI

    AUGUSTA— Maine State Police Troop D reported the following activity May 11-18. Troop D is responsible for Maine's Midcoast, including Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Waldo, and Knox counties, the southern half of Kennebec County and part of northern Cumberland County. The troop also patrols Interstate 295, from Brunswick to Gardiner. The troop's complement includes a lieutenant, three sergeants, 25 troopers and a secretary. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.

    May 11

    Trooper Seth Allen stopped Richard Childs, 57, in Gardiner for displaying a fictitious inspection sticker and he was issued a summons for the offense.

    May 12

    Trooper Erin Ball stopped Matthew Conde, 33, on I-295 in Bowdoinham for operating an unregistered motor vehicle greater than 150 days and he was issued a summons for the offense.

    Troopers Sarah Ferland and Corey Smith responded to Prospect for an unattended death, determined to be of natural causes.

    May 13

    Trooper Mark Ferreira stopped Earl Roy, 42, of Gardiner, on Windsor Street in Randolph for displaying a fake inspection sticker and he was issued a summons for the offense.

    May 14

    Trooper Ferreira encountered a vehicle on Route 201 in Gardiner that was displaying a fictitious inspection sticker. Trooper Ferreira made contact with the driver, Sally Rines, 65, of Richmond, and she was issued a summons for the offense.

    Troopers Benjamin Sweeney, Smith and Ferland responded to a home in Monroe for a reported assault. Michael Epley, 36, of Monroe, was subsequently charged with assault.

    Trooper Thomas Bureau stopped Jamie Ordway, 31, southbound on Route 1A in Frankfort for an inspection sticker violation. Ordway's license was suspended and she was issued a summons for operating after suspension.

    May 15

    Trooper Allen stopped Jason Smith, 38, in Chelsea for displaying a fictitious inspection sticker and he was issued a summons for the offense.

    Trooper Allen stopped Kayla Mayo, 26, in Gardiner after discovering that the license plate on her Saturn did not match the vehicle. Mayo was found to be operating the car with an expired permit and she was issued a summons for the offense.

    Trooper Ferreira stopped a vehicle on Water Street in Hallowell and identified the driver as Meredith Prugh, 32, of South Gardiner. Further investigation into the traffic stop revealed that Prugh was operating with a suspended license and she was issued a summons for the offense.

    May 16

    Trooper Bureau stopped Christopher Merchant, 30, for a speed violation on Route 222 in Levant. Upon further investigation, Trooper Bureau detected an odor of intoxicants coming from the vehicle. Merchant was taken to the Dexter Police Department for a breath sample where he was found to be over the legal limit and was charged with operating under the influence.

    Trooper Ferreira stopped a vehicle on Route 17 in Chelsea and identified the driver as Nathaniel Greene, 34, of Bristol. Further investigation into the traffic stop revealed that Greene was operating with a suspended license and he was issued a summons for the offense.

    Trooper Ferreira encountered a vehicle on Route 17 in Augusta that was displaying a fictitious inspection sticker. Trooper Ferreira made contact with the driver, Raymond Vaillancourt Jr., 49, of Chelsea, and he was issued a summons for the offense.

    Trooper Ferreira stopped a vehicle traveling on Route 17 in Windsor for displaying an expired inspection sticker. Kim Marie Krejsa, 55, of Wiscasset, was determined to be operating with expired registration and she was issued a summons for the offense.

    Trooper Ferland stopped Jay Ditullio, 20, on Route 1A in Prospect for having a headlight out. Ditullio was found to be operating after suspension and was issued a summons for the offense.

    May 18

    Sergeant Patrick Mills investigated a reported attempted burglary on Hodge's Lane in Albion. 

    Trooper Ball stopped Glenn Daukas, 54, on I-295 in Bowdoinham for speed. Upon further investigation it was determined Daukas was also operating with suspended registration and he was issued summons for failure to provide proof of insurance and operating with expired registration.

    Troopers Gleeson and Krech responded to Misery Lane in Pittston for a call concerning the deceased.
