ROCKPORT — A woman who works in Rockport displayed her commitment to community organizations recently by presenting checks to support two local causes.

Through the State Farm Quotes for Good program, agents choose charities with which to partner. One agent, January Peavey, selected the P.A.W.S. Animal Adoption Center and One Less Worry.  For each insurance quote request that Peavey’s office received in May and June, Peavey donated money to the organizations.

Peavey raised $675 for P.A.W.S. and the funds will be used to help provide care and shelter for stray cats and dogs until they can be placed in permanent, loving homes.

“Animals can’t speak for themselves, so to be able to give them a voice and support an organization that saves precious lives of animals is an incredible feeling,” she said, in a news release.  “As a new P.A.W.S. board member, I look forward to our continued collaboration.”

Additionally, Peavey raised $150 for One Less Worry.

One Less Worry is dedicated to providing donated personal care items, such as tampons, pads and toiletries, to women in need throughout 20 Knox County locations. Last year, it delivered 70,000 pads and tampons to local women and girls in need.

“When I learned there is an organization that helps low-income women with the expense of caring for their feminine health, I knew I had to find a way to help,” she said. “Thanks to our community, we were able to do just that. The $150 will go a long way to help this cause.

“Thank you to everyone who called our office for a quote and helped us give back through the Quotes for Good campaign,” she said.  “If you have a favorite nonprofit you would like us to support, please call our office at 207-230-8365.”
