“Knead” sourdough in your life? Bridget Mariner talks to Rockport library foodie series
ROCKPORT — Rockport Public Library’s “foodie series” returns Saturday, Feb. 15, at 12 p.m., with a presentation by Union St. Sourdough owner/baker Bridget Mariner. A variety of samples will be provided.
Mariner’s talk will explore the nutritious and delicious benefits of long-fermented organic grain sourdough. The program will also briefly cover the wild yeast sourdough process and the myriad ways people can incorporate fermented grains into their diets.
"Additionally, Mariner will share her unique journey from New York gallerist, to globe-trotting nonprofit professional, to — finally — returning home and becoming a sourdough baker and cottage bakery owner," said the RPL news release.
Native Mainer Bridget Mariner founded Union St. Sourdough in July 2023. The business is a licensed cottage bakery in downtown Camden, Maine, specializing in long-fermented, organic grain sourdough bread, bagels, baked goods, and a versatile organic sourdough pancake and baking mix. A lifelong baker, and an experienced business and nonprofit management professional, Mariner brings her passion for sourdough, small-batch, handmade goods, and the community-minded, creative spirit of her home state to all that she does.
This free program is limited to 40 participants. Call the library at 207-236-3642 to reserve your spot. Learn more at rockportlibrary.net.
