Keep the dialog open

I think the writer of last week’s letter to the editor “Let’s resolve the Dam and Falls issue” has the issue a little backwards.

The Select Board has been doing its due diligence and researching the multiple challenges facing Camden. Crumbling infrastructure including multiple dams in the Megunticook River, harbor seawall flooding, FEMA identified downtown flooding issues, the near future  replacement of the main st. bridge, all with an eye to the environmental restoration of a native river environment and preservation of Camden Harbor’s natural beauty.

There have been at least 12 public meetings, webinars and a public information fair, so far.  It seems to me that now is the time for a real citizen committee to evaluate the data and options.  Shutting down discussion now, on all issues, based on a small groups’ objection to one choice on one dam, is premature.
