Jacob Jolliff Band, Anna May to perform at Camden Opera House
CAMDEN — The Camden Opera House, 29 Elm St., will present contemporary mandolinists Jacob Jolliff and his band on Saturday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. Acclaimed singer-songwriter Anna May will open the show.
Jolliff has performed and collaborated with Béla Fleck, Tony Trischka, and Alex Hargreaves, to name a few. After touring for a number of years with Joy Kills Sorrow and the Yonder Mountain String Band, the Berklee grad leads his own band, "one of the most cutting-edge progressive bluegrass groups on the scene today," said a news release.
The Jacob Jolliff Band plays a combination of complex original instrumental music and vocal repertoire that spans from trad bluegrass to unlikely pop covers – with improvisation at the forefront.
Connecticut-born Anna May, currently based on the West Coast, has lived all over the country, and her music honors the nomadic spirit with memory, meditation and fresh interpretations of folk and jazz influence.
The evening is sponsored by Camden Maine Stay Inn and 40 Paper.
Choose-your-own-seat tickets are $20 in advance, $24 day-of-show, via camdenoperahouse.com or (207) 236-3154.
