ISLESBORO — Islesboro Central School recently hired Lindsay Dakers as their Middle School and High School counselor.

Dakers is joining Islesboro Central School with a background in career and technical education, alternative education, and the coordination of middle and high school career and college readiness programs for rural Maine schools. Most recently she served as the multiple pathways coordinator for Mount Abram Regional High School, located in Franklin County.

Dakers is from the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, but has lived in the mountains of Western Maine for the last ten years. She has a degree in culinary arts from the Culinary Institute of America, a Bachelor of Arts in natural science from Northern Vermont University, and a Master of Science in school counseling from Gwynedd Mercy University.

Dakers education and training in school counseling are based on the American School Counselor Association’s (ASCA) National Model.

She is looking forward to supporting Islesboro’s students in their academic and postsecondary planning, and she has a strong commitment to ensuring social/emotional learning supports for all students, according to ICS, in a news release.

Outside of working with students, you’re likely to find her trying to keep up with her two children on skis or a bike. She and her family are excited to relocate to and explore the Midcoast area.
