H. Wilbur Jacobs Sr., obituary
HOPE — H. Wilbur Jacobs Sr., 87, of Hope, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 16, 2025.
Wilbur was born in Hope on April 15, 1937, to the late George Edward Jacobs, Sr., and Jennie May Rolfe Jacobs. He was educated in local schools and was a proud member of the Union High School Class of 1955. Shortly after graduation, Wilbur enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably from 1955 until his discharge in 1961.
In 1957, Wilbur married Marie Joyce Hepner, with whom he shared many happy years until her passing in 1971. On July 5, 1973, Wilbur married Jessie E. Josselyn, and together, they spent 45 years of marriage until Jessie’s passing in 2018.
Throughout his life, Wilbur worked tirelessly, dedicating much of his career to Fisher Engineering, where he served as a Quality Control Foreman before retiring. His work ethic and dedication to his family were evident in everything he did.
In his retirement, Wilbur found great joy in spending time with his beloved wife, Jessie, and their grandchildren. They enjoyed camping, traveling, and creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Wilbur and Jessie were fortunate to share many of these adventures with their dear friends, Joyce and George Buchanan.
Wilbur is predeceased by his wife, Jessie; daughters Carol Sue Gardiner, Tina Merrifield; son-in-law Larry Merrifield; brothers Eddie and Bobbie Jacobs; grandchildren Cassandra Mae, Carl Edward and Joshua Alan Locke.
He is survived by his sister, Edith (Bob) Clarey; children Scott (Susan) McIntyre, Hank (Tammy) Jacobs Jr., Debra (Paul Leeper) McIntyre, and Rose (Ron) Hubbard, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Burpee Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, ME.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 11 a.m., at the West Rockport Baptist Church, 545 Park Street, West Rockport, ME.
Interment will be held at a later date in the spring at East Union Cemetery.

Wilbur will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His legacy of love, hard work, and faith will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
