Gary D. Spaulding, obituary
ROCKLAND — Gary D. Spaulding, 71, of Rockland, Maine, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 28, 2025.
Born on February 20, 1954, at Knox Hospital, Gary was the son of Philip E. Spaulding and Janet E. Carter. He was educated locally and graduated from Rockland District High School in 1973. One of his earliest jobs was as a caddy at the Old Samoset Resort, where he even appeared on one of their postcards.
After high school, Gary worked for many years at Crowe Rope in Warren. It was during this time that he met Teresa Blake, the love of his life. They were married on Christmas Eve in 2011 during a family Christmas Party and shared 14 years of marriage.
A devoted sports fan, Gary loyally followed the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics, often attending games with his father, wife, children, and brothers. He also cherished time spent lake and ice fishing with his son Jason, brother Jeff, and nephews Jamie and Nathan. Gary had a deep love for animals and was known for feeding many strays over the years.
In retirement, Gary and Teresa enjoyed scenic drives throughout the midcoast area and playing cards with his mother and siblings. He found great joy in visits with his children and grandchildren and spending time with his lifelong friend Victor Malmstrom.
