Four Midcoast natives recognized for academic achievements by NFHCA
GILBERT, Ariz. — Four former Midcoast high school field hockey players were honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association for their academic achievements during the 2019 season and were named to the ZAG Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad.
Three of the student-athletes spent this academic year attending Thomas College in Waterville and one attended Husson University in Bangor.
The program honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher through the first semester of the 2019-2020 academic year.
Freedom native Alexis Bowman (sophomore, sports management), Belfast native Kelci Faulkingham (senior, psychology) and Unity native Krysta Porter (senior, master’s of business administration) were among 14 Thomas student-athletes recognized for their academic achievements.
Porter was a four-year recipient of the accolade.
Owl’s Head native Shannon Ripley (junior, health sciences) was among 16 Husson student-athletes recognized for her academic achievement.
