Folk duo to perform Camden Opera House’s SoundCheck series, Sept. 29

    CAMDEN — Contemporary folk musicians Jocelyn Pettit and Ellen Gira will perform Friday, Sept. 29, at 7:30 p.m., at the Camden Opera House, 29 Elm St. 

    “This North America-based fiddle and cello duo fuse traditional and contemporary folk music styles with exquisite vocal harmonies,” said the Opera House, in a news release. “Complemented by lively step dancing, Pettit and Gira bring life and fire into original tunes, songs and high-energy repertoire from Scotland, Ireland, North America and Scandinavia.”

    The pandemic-born SoundCheck series offers short, affordable, performances by regional artists. 

    The one-hour SoundCheck show is sponsored by the Blackberry Inn. 

    Choose-your-own reserved seat tickets are $10 via camdenoperahouse.com and 236-3154. Doors will open at 7 p.m. 

    SoundCheck shows also are livestreamed on the opera house’s Facebook page at no charge. 

    Coming up in October are Sweet Baby James, a James Taylor tribute, Saturday, Oct. 14; and the year’s final SoundCheck show Friday, Oct. 20, featuring jazz vocalist Vicki Burns and guitarist David Clarke.
