Event has passed

The Farnsworth Art Museum will hold its first event Jan. 5 that leads to a year-round celebration of art, community, and cultural enrichment. Emphasizing creativity, accessibility, and inclusion, the museum invites everyone to join the monthly festivities.

The First Friday series kicks off from 4 to 6 p.m. with a celebration of Maine and the sea, offering specialty kelp vodka and rum cocktails from Barren’s Distillery, traditional clam chowder from Sammy’s Deluxe Restaurant, a takeaway art craft for the kids, and more.

During the First Friday, the museum’s featured exhibitions will be Marsden Hartley and the Sea, including the well-known work by Hartley Give Us This Day, and  objects from the Farnsworth’s collection. Hartley was an American Modernist painter, poet and essayist from Lewiston, Maine.

First Friday at the Farnsworth is generously supported by Art Bridges Access for All. Give Us This Day is on loan from Art Bridges.
