Doris (McLain) Heintz, obituary
After a battle with late onset Alzheimer’s disease, Doris Jane Heintz (McLain) went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 11, 2025. The daughter of Addie McLain, Doris was born May 6, 1939 and grew up in Bremen, Maine. She attended Waldoboro High School class of 1957 and attended Gordon College, where she met her husband of 60 years, Herman Heintz.
In addition to faithfully raising 5 children, Doris provided a loving home daycare for over 20 years. Many families in the midcoast area were impacted by her genuine care and concern. During this time Doris was busy completing her college degree and attending her children’s countless sports events and activities.
Doris had many enjoyments in life, including her church family, special friends, gardening, reading, walking, practicing hospitality in her home, and road trips with Herman.
Above all, she cherished times with her 17 grandchildren and later 4 great-grandchildren. Each one knew her love and delight in them.
She was the best “Oma.”
Doris’ faithful love for Herman was evident as she selflessly cared for him, especially in his last several years of life.
She is survived by her 5 children and their families: Rebecca Pitkin (Mike), Stephen Heintz (Pamela), Catherine Hofford (Gregg), Charissa Rogers (Gabe), Joanna Heintz, 17 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on May 24, 2025, at 1 p.m., at Reformation Bible Church, 190 Dover Road, Chichester, NH.
