A handful of area towns are preparing for their annual June town meetings and elections, and as their warrants are being readied for the printer, the deadline to take out and return nomination papers looms close. For the towns of Appleton, Rockport and Camden, the deadline to return papers is Friday, April 28. In Lincolnville, Thomaston, Union, Vinalhaven and Warren, the deadline is May 1 and in Hope the deadline is May 2. In the city of Rockland, the deadline to file is May 1.

Following is a list of open seats in town government, which will be voted on by secret ballot Tuesday, June, 13. Papers can still be taken out ahead of each town's deadline, but must be returned with the appropriate amount of signatures by the town’s deadline. (Click each town’s name for a link to their website and for more information about taking out papers and the minimum number of verifiable signatures required upon return.)
