David Robotham, obituary
MORRILL — David "Dave" Robotham, 76, of Morrill, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2015, in Belfast. He was born June 7, 1938, in Hartford, Conn., to Allan Case and Elsie Jean (Bowman) Robotham.
Dave was raised and educated in West Hartford, Conn. He graduated from William H. Hall High School and the University of Hartford, Ward College of Technology.
Dave married the love of his life, Patricia “Tish” Clark on Nov. 14, 1959. He served in the U.S. Army, Power Maintenance Division. He worked at Pratt & Whitney Machine Tool Co. in West Hartford as a sales engineer, at Electromechanics Inc. as sales engineering manager, at Gold Star Products and at Woodcock Electric as field supervisor, and at Clisby & Associates as manufacturer's representative for mechanical and electrical power transmission equipment.
Dave was a master electrician and owned Robotham Electric, where he was an industrial electrical contractor. His work included installation and wiring of machine tools, wire mills, strip mills, sewer treatment systems, pump controls, and design and build equipment. He installed plant power systems, including switchboards, panel boards and process equipment for almost 20 years.
While in Connecticut, he was an active member of the volunteer fire departments in Simsbury and Clinton. Always loving the water and boating, Dave enjoyed serving in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary from 1980 to 1998 and was elected flotilla commander.
When Dave and Tish retired they moved to Maine, where they volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels in Knox County. He also worked on wiring Coast Guard vessels at Rockland Marine.
Dave is predeceased by his wife of 54 years and leaves their two daughters, Ronda J. Robotham of West Warwick, R.I., and Gail A. Griffin and her husband, Steven, of Old Lyme, Conn.; and his grandchildren, Sarah Shelley and her husband, Daniel, of Cornelius, N.C., Allison Montesanto of Old Lyme, Conn., and Jonathan Montesanto of Old Lyme, Conn., all of whom he loved very much. Dave also leaves his brother, Paul and his wife, Patricia, of Unionville, Conn.; as well as his sisters-in-law, Catherine Brewer of West Hartford, Conn., and Margaret Ryan of Vermilion, Ohio; and his brothers-in-law, John Clark and his wife, Carole, of West Hartford, Conn., and Thomas and his wife, Marjorie Clark, of Avon, Conn.; and his many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, June 3 at 11 a.m. at Morrill Baptist Church, 25 S. Main St. in Morrill.
