Darrowby Farm Sanctuary receives grant from Foxwynd Foundation to support rescued animals
JEFFERSON — Darrowby Farm Sanctuary has been awarded a generous grant from the Foxwynd Foundation, which will significantly enhance the sanctuary’s ability to care for rescued animal residents.
This support will help ensure that Darrowby Farm can continue its mission of providing a safe, loving home for large animals who have nowhere else to go.
"While Maine is fortunate to have a robust network of shelters for companion animals, options for farmed animals in need are few and far between," said the sanctuary, in a news release.
The grant will cover essential costs such as veterinary care, food, and shelter for the animals that arrive at the sanctuary. With this increased funding, Darrowby Farm can expand its efforts to rescue more animals and provide them with the quality care they deserve.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Foxwynd Foundation for their generous contribution,” said Amanda Glenn, Darrowby’s founder. “This grant not only strengthens our capacity to rescue and care for more animals in need, but it also empowers our team to continue advocating for animal welfare in our community. Animal rescue doesn’t happen in a vacuum, and we’re grateful to the Foxwynd Foundation for joining our work as a crucial resource.”
Darrowby Farm Sanctuary was founded in 2019 by Amanda Glenn and Andy Theriault, and has since saved the lives of more than 70 animals. This grant marks a significant milestone in the sanctuary’s ongoing efforts.
The sanctuary invites the community to join in celebrating this partnership and to continue supporting its mission through donating, attending a “What To Expect When You’re Expecting A Pet Pig,” class, signing up for the sanctuary newsletter, or joining their first Open Volunteer Day on Saturday, November 9.
